My History

My name is Dhia.

My exciting story with music started when I was four years old, the same year when I touched for the first time my first musical instrument. It was not a grand piano or a harpsichord, or even a violin; we are not at Mozart’s time or Chopin’s. It was a small electric keyboard for young beginners who want to learn to play music. That was, in fact, my first contact with the music, especially when I began to distinguish sounds and their respective heights, to mix or separate some of them, or to put some others together. It was my little laboratory. Note that in my little keyboard, a demo button, once pressed, a sequence of recorded music then is launched. Among those short tracks, I remember the Brahms’ lullaby and Beethoven’s Ode to Joy. When I heard this music, everything has become dazzling and magic around me.

The years passed, and before I joined secondary school, I have started to compose some musical phrases, still without sheet transcription. When I entered secondary school, I put all my mental powers to learn musical notation, and that was in music class. Outside of class, I was looking in libraries and bookstores for books or encyclopedias that could help me to absorb the art of music. In fact, I studied alone instrumentation, composition, forms, harmony and counterpoint.

At the age of 15, I've decided to bring some of my anterior compositions and orchestrate them. At that age, I also learned to play the violin.

Three years later, I entered at the Higher Institute of Music in Sousse, I tried the piano and that was perfectly suited. I continued to compose music. I tried to compose songs, jazz, oriental, but nothing worked as well as the classic-or the scholar-music, the style which I am completely comfortable with.
